Born and raised in India, Parminder admits that Indian food features weekly on the menu in his household, especially when his mother is in town. Parminder was struggling with his weight and after hearing the Get Healthy Service advertisement on the radio he immediately signed up.

With a wife and 2 year old daughter, Parminder never wanted his struggles with food to impact on his family. On a social level, he never wanted his family to feel like they were missing out as taking them to nice restaurants was important to him. Physically, Parminder never wanted to pass on his bad habits to his daughter and create struggles for her future.

“I’m a family man with a 2 year old and a partner and we love to eat out. At no stage did I want my health issues to affect my family” he says.

With the help of the program and his health coach, Parminder lost 17 ½ kilograms by setting realistic goals every week. He admits he still indulges with Indian food but now understands the importance of a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Rather than miss out, Parminder now cuts back on portion sizes and when he feels like he has indulged too much he often increases his fruit intake to flush out his system; a piece of advice from his health coach.

Since losing the weight, Parminder is amazed at how much energy he has “for the first time in my life I realised how active and energetic I was.”

Eating healthily, exercising regularly and enjoying life with newfound energy have now become part of Parminder’s everyday life. He exercises 4-5 times a week without the aid of a trainer and has even motivated his wife to start running. Together as a family they both understand the importance of setting a positive example for their 2 year old daughter and they spend more time outdoors in the park.

Parminder has happily had to change his whole wardrobe now that his clothes are so baggy.
 %youtube=ADl1gzO-h94,593,334%

 <td colspan=""2"">

 <td style=""vertical-align:top""><img height=""190"" src=""//gethealthy.siteflex.com.au/assets/images/talent/wendy-circle.jpg"" style=""margin: 0px 60px 0px 0px; float: left;"" width=""190"" />

Wendy

“We do a lot more as a family now, especially with the kids…I am not embarrassed to get into a swimming costume, I feel more comfortable.”

Struggling to lose weight after the birth of her first two children but still determined, Wendy approached her doctor for help.

“My portion sizes were really out of control and because I was not exercising, I had no energy. I had been prescribed with anti-depressants and hated my job which didn’t help, so it wasn’t long before the weight started to pile on.”

After her second child Benjamin was born with Autism she knew she would need to lose weight once and for all, as keeping up with him alone required a lot of energy. Wendy knew she needed to be educated on nutrition and exercise and change her approach to eating, so she joined the Get Healthy Service to find the answers.

As Wendy embraced a healthier lifestyle she lost 36kg and went from being a size 16 to a size 8, maintaining her new weight even after her 3rd child was born. She felt it was important to transfer the lessons she had learnt on to her children so they would be able to make the right choices as they grew up, something Wendy had not been taught as a child.

Thanks to her coach, Wendy no longer looks at the scales but rather the way her clothes fit and how her body looks. She exercises every day and can finally keep up with her kids dancing, playing music and chasing them around the house.

Through support from her health coach, husband and friends Wendy now leads a very active lifestyle and has inspired those around her to follow in her footsteps.
 %youtube=E3oYe4tZ6_w,593,334%

 <td colspan=""2"">

 <td style=""vertical-align:top""><img height=""190"" src=""//gethealthy.siteflex.com.au/assets/images/talent/roger-circle.jpg"" style=""margin: 0px 60px 0px 0px; float: left;"" width=""190"" />

Roger

“It was very good having that person, it gave you some motivation and justification because if I hadn’t done the right thing I was honest and told her, she didn’t judge.”

As a hard working former dog-handler in law enforcement, Roger was an integral arm of effective state-wide policing. Having spent 34 years in that job, Roger admits that juggling a busy work life and family has led his weight to increase steadily.

The foundations for a healthy lifestyle were always there for Roger, as a young adult Roger participated in Surf Life Saving, he practiced Judo and even competed in the 1988 Police Olympics. Although he was quite active and ate well, Roger still felt that he needed that extra bit of motivation.

Since joining the Get Healthy Service, Roger was able to get back down to 82 kilograms and boasts it’s the lightest he has been in 30 years. Diagnosed as a Coeliac (gluten intolerant) Roger needed a lifestyle that was suitable to his dietary needs and was grateful that the program took this into consideration. With the help of his coach Jo, he learnt that although he may have been eating the right sorts of food, reducing the serving portions and keeping a food diary made a real difference.

Following in Roger’s footsteps are his 18 and 21 year old daughters, who gained motivation from their dad. Roger brags that his 21 year old is the fittest she has ever been after training her every day at the gym.

With no regrets, Roger is happy he is healthy at retirement and hopes to compete in the Tough Mudder competition next year.
 %youtube=1dEOL71n10s,593,334%

 <td colspan=""2"">

 <td style=""vertical-align:top""><img height=""190"" src=""//gethealthy.siteflex.com.au/assets/images/talent/ian-circle.jpg"" style=""margin: 0px 60px 0px 0px; float: left;"" width=""190"" />

Ian

“I have gone from being an overweight guy who didn’t exercise, to now where I consider myself very fit, very healthy.
